Nokia 6111 Review

 Nokia 6111

Not content to launch a couple of heavy-hitting sliding handsets today, Nokia has also debuted the Nokia 6111, a handset which manages to cram in most of the features of the 6270/6280 into a much smaller design.

As well as managing to drop around 20g from the weight of the 6280, Nokia's 6111 also comes in a lot smaller at 84mm x 47mm x 23mm and while this is admirable, it does mean a few concessions have had to be made with the features of the 6111.

Instead of the 2MP camera seen elsewhere in Nokia's new releases, the 6111 has a 1 megapixel camera, capable of taking images up to 1152x864 in size and video of 176x144. While Nokia have not stated how much internal memory the 6111 will have, there is to be no memory expansion slot. The display has also been downsized and comes in at 128x160 but, happily enough, can still display 262k colours.

That being said, the Nokia 6111 still has a lot of impressive features, not least of which is the 'soft touch' slide concept, meaning the phone's slider can be set going with a little tap as opposed to needing to be pushed the entire way. The 6111 also supports Push To Talk and Nokia's Xpress audio messaging, allowing short voice clips to be sent over the air. Connectivity is also amply taken care of with support for Bluetooth, Infrared, Email (although the 6111 doesn't support attachments), USB connection, and a handy Instant Messaging client.

Continuing the trend of today's other launches, the 6111 has a built-in FM radio receiver, as well as a handsfree speakerphone and support for MP3/AAC ringtones, rounding off a neat little phone Nokia expects to hit the streets in Q4 2005
